About the role and our team

Join our team within the Treasury’s Strategic Asset and Capital Investment Committee as a Capital Projects Controller.

You will be a key member of the Treasury’s Strategic Asset and Capital Investment Committee, providing effective, professional advice on the hugely varied portfolio of capital projects to politicians and officers at all levels and in a range of different forums.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Raising awareness of and embedding the principles of long-term asset investment planning and management
  • Supporting the development of and building upon a strategic infrastructure needs assessment to set long term investment plans, and translate these into a five year capital programme
  • Providing professional assessments of the deliverability and cost data relating to the capital programme
  • Ensuring that all gateway approvals are progressed to SACIC where necessary, and being responsible for checking and signing off delegated approvals
  • Setting KPI’s and analysing progress, and compiling reports on the delivery of the capital programme

What can this role offer me?

The range and scale of capital projects from such a varied asset portfolio is vast, which ensures a constantly changing range of challenges and considerations. No two days are likely to be the same and you will play a key part in the development of a new approach to capital funding, programming and monitoring.

You will be responsible for, but supported with, maintaining relevant CPD. You’ll also benefit from a flexible approach to working which includes flexi-time and scope to work remotely, subject to the needs of the team and the business.
