An increasing demand for their services has lead to the opening of a 6th office at the business, as the organisation goes from strength to strength, and with that the requirement for a buiding surveyor to join their head office team in Colchester.
As an APC focused Building Surveyor you will report into an Associate Director and Head of the Colchester Building Consultancy division, providing key reports and surveys for a wide range of clients, from Landlords, insurance providers, banks and lenders to private landlords, surveying a range of property types including commercial, residential, industrial and more.
This role will enable you to challenge and push yourself to handle survey work indpendently, with flexible support from chartered members of the team. Areas of work include:
Traditional Building Surveys, Dilapidations, Party Wall, and Building Defect Analysis
Insurance surveying both for domestic and commercial clients, relating to flood, fire, subsidence and more
Historic, listed and Heritage Buildings, survey and project management for reinstatement, repairs and maintenance
Building & Structural design work for refurbishments, alterations and extensions to properties
What do you get in return for your hard work? As a Building Surveyor looking to pursue your APC and become chartered, you will be enrolled & supported throughout your pathway through a structured support programme, ensuring all competencies are developed and a suitable case study is provided for you as well, to give you the best chance of securing Membership to the RICS.
You will receive a salary on par with your level, which for more junior surveyors starts at £27,000 per annum whilst for those within 6 months of sitting their APC could be up to £37,000 PA.
In addition to the standard salary, the business provides a discretionary annual performance related bonus, 25 days of holiday per annum as well as Bank Holidays, and 8% private pension, with 3% employer contribution.
In order to succeed as a Building Surveyor at this practice, you will need to meet certain requirements as follows:
You must have experience carrying out in depth building surveys independently, reporting on specific defects and identifying the cause and rectification as well as producing reports to a high, detailed standard.
You will need to hold an RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying or a closely related subject in rder to be enrolled on the APC scheme.
You must hold a full & valid UK driver's license or equivalent, and ideally access to a vehicle.
The successful candidate will need to be competent in basic AutoCAD, and able to create and edit floorplans / elevations with little support.
The business is looking for a strong communicator with a professional client facing demeanour, excellent attention to detail and good report writing skills.
