An opportunity exists for a Building Fabric Surveyor to join the Council’s Corporate Asset and Facilities Management (CAFM) Service and make a positive impact towards delivering these goals. You can also enjoy the challenge of working with many architectural heritage status buildings where good building pathology skills are often required to determine effective repair, refurbishment and upgrading strategies

Calderdale Council’s Corporate Asset and Facilities Management (CAFM) Service is responsible for the Council’s large and diverse property portfolio: around 300 buildings from changing rooms through leisure facilities and office buildings to significant heritage assets such as the iconic Halifax Town Hall. CAFM’s Technical Team is responsible for all technical resources (internal and external), required to deliver an effective maintenance and development service for this property portfolio.

This is a specialist team with key expertise, which acts both as an intelligent client and commissioner. Responsible for determining, specifying and managing the full range of specialist works required to maintain such a large, diverse and complex portfolio of properties. It is also responsible for monitoring the Council’s buildings; drawing up programmes of work across the estate, ensuring that all planned, programmed and reactive repair works are delivered with a customer focus, on time and within budget. The team has oversight of the delivery of capital projects and significant building works, responsible for substantial capital budgets as well as an annual revenue budget of circa £2m.

This post is responsible for delivering the full range of building fabric work, including a planned maintenance strategy / programme. Involving; assessing building maintenance needs and priorities; providing detailed condition reports with estimates of costs; agreeing prioritisation of works with stakeholders within available budgets whilst meeting all statutory requirements; and maximising the performance and longevity of the Council’s assets.

This post oversees the delivery of capital projects and significant building works and as a commissioner this post is responsible for the preparation and collation of drawings, specifications and other documents for building fabric works; preparation and evaluation of tender documents for procurement, contract award and management.
