This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding multidisciplinary firm and lead a specialist Land & Property team in the delivery of Land acquisition, Land Access, Strategic Land Advice, Compensation and Estate Management, on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK.

We are looking for an experienced leader who is interested in leading and growing a team of specialists to complement our wider service alongside other leaders in Land Referencing, Digital Solutions and Engagement

As part of the Planning Information Management leadership group you’ll be expected to lead by example and:

  • Promote the national team above our local interests
  • Work with colleagues across the Planning discipline to promote Land & Property across projects and consenting regimes
  • Develop new markets, services and win and deliver new opportunities

This role would particularly suit an experienced land agency professional who has experience working within Consultancy and or the energy sector and is looking for an opportunity take that next step in their career or is seeking a new challenge.

A typical week would include:

  • Develop, own and lead the Land & Property growth strategy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and oversee Key Client Management activities within the industry.
  • Monitor and identify trends within the Land & Property industry and develop them into commercially viable propositions, by developing and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Lead and coordinate activities contributing to achieving strategic and commercial targets for the Land & Property team
  • Develop and implement a brand and profile-raising plan for the team, overseeing and coordinating the preparation of thought leading literature and developing your own profile by representing WSP at industry and client events.
  • Lead the bidding input into strategic opportunities either for specific land and property opportunities or as part of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Act as project director/lead/industry specialist to support the delivery of projects for key client accounts/frameworks
  • Work across the Planning discipline to grow the involvement of Land & Property related services in new project opportunities
  • Carry out regular (monthly) H&S audits and site visits for your Projects.
  • Develop and meet KPIs demonstrating work won / value added.
  • Attracting, retaining and developing key personnel to support business growth

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record in the management and delivery of land-related services
  • Ability to communicate effectively and have strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Be a recognised trusted advisor with strong industry knowledge.
  • Experience of delivering projects via Development of Orders and other consenting regimes
  • Pre-existing personal contact network with influential individuals in the industry
  • Proven work winner with experience of launching and delivering Land and Property Services to clients
  • Ability to identify and develop business opportunities from initial discussions through to bid submissions and bid win.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to network and grow relationships in a complex organisation both internally and externally.
  • Can work closely with WSP colleagues, across all disciplines, at all levels.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Chartered member of a relevant professional body.

  • Clear understanding of core safety expectations for leading a high-profile team within WSP.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to influence and interact with people at all levels in a diplomatic and persuasive manner.
  • Proven track record in leading successful teams.
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work at a strategic level to the utilisation level required in a fee earning capacity.
  • Strong organisational skills being able to effectively manage several projects concurrently, working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to deal with conflicting priorities and to offer positive solutions.
  • Flexibility to travel in the UK and internationally, as required.
