The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

This is a great opportunity to work in a thriving District which offers the best of the big City, market towns, beautiful villages and stunning countryside. Bradford District is engaged on a journey which is leading to a renaissance and we hope you join us on it.

Estates & Property cover a wide variety of property matters across the District.  Bradford Council has a substantial land and property estate which is managed across three teams dealing with Strategic Asset Management, Estate Management and Acquisition & Disposals.

This exciting opportunity is to join a team of Chartered Surveyors and property professionals to work within the Acquisition & Disposals team which acts across many aspects of the Council’s property and land assets. It has a market focus being responsible for all acquisitions, and disposal of surplus assets. The team also advises on the acquisition of property and land through the use of CPO powers.

The candidate will be a Chartered Surveyor with experience in development; land and property acquisitions and disposals.

The Council has an extensive land bank. A key element of the role is to assist in developing a strategy that brings land forward for sale or development. This will involve assessing key sites and master planning, obtaining planning consents, engaging with developers and key public sector partners. You will provide property advice and undertake valuations and negotiations for asset disposal and regeneration projects.

The candidate will be a team player working with colleagues across the Council such as planning, asset management and housing development to unlock development opportunities from the surplus council estate to assist regeneration and job creation throughout the district.

To achieve PO3/4, the candidate will be a Chartered Surveyor with RICS (professional membership) in General Practice with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience including at least one year as a qualified chartered surveyor.  At least 5 years post qualification experience to progress to the highest salary grade.
