Senior Sustainability Manager

London / Remote

We are seeking a full-time experienced senior sustainability manager to lead and support new projects and programmes. The successful candidate will join a large Responsible Business team and deliver client-facing consultancy services including delivery of LEED, WELL and BREEAM accreditation and embodied carbon reduction.

Senior Sustainability Manager role involves:

  • Lead development of client sustainability strategies on projects and programmes, including agreeing project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team.
  • Lead and support work winning through bid support, preparation of fee proposals, driving innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues and raising the consultancy profile.
  • Be expert and promote innovation in a particular area of sustainability, such as waste, energy/carbon, water, responsible sourcing of materials, and sustainable buildings. At the same time this person will be a pro-active generalist, able to cover all major issues of sustainability with relevant stakeholders.

Person Specifications:

  • Expert knowledge of the implementation of green building accreditation schemes, in particular LEED and BREEAM. Ideally qualified as a LEED AP, WELL AP or BREEAM assessor/AP.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of engineering and architectural solutions that support delivery of LEED and BREEAM accreditation.
  • Ability to lead/direct a project team to deliver the most appropriate solutions to meet client objectives.
  • Expertise in driving energy/carbon savings in projects, including the reduction of embodied carbon.
  • Expertise in one or more sustainability topics (waste, water, energy, carbon, responsible sourcing, building design, biodiversity).
  • Experience of leading work winning and writing fee proposals and support the bidding process with strong business acumen.
  • Be able to translate technical topics into layperson language and articulate the value of sustainability.
  • Champion sustainability and be a leader, encouraging behavioural change throughout the business.
  • Developing innovation and best practice, including clearly communicating these to the wider business and clients.
  • Able to translate best practices from one client/sector to another.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with client and stakeholders including design team members, contractors, sub-contractors and regulators

If you have 4+years' experience working in a similar role for a consultancy or specialist sustainability consultancy within property related projects (this is a must!) You as Senior Sustainability Manager will be focused on corporate real estate (eg portfolio green building certification or net zero carbon implementation) Major programmes/infrastructure including Rail and construction support (including European data centres) amongst other diverse projects.
