Job Details

The role

A recognised name across the South of England with a growing brand and client base are looking to take on a Clerk of Works to cover new build residential sites across West London and surrounding home counties.

Having opened their West London office just over 4 years ago, the company has seen a huge demand for their services, largely QS, Project Management, Employer's Agent and Clerk of Works consultancy on behalf of Local Authorities and Affordable Housing providers. A relatively new branch of the business, the West London office is now 7 strong, with 6 members of staff working under one of the Partners of the company who has been a key member of the organisation for over 15 years.

As a Clerk of Works for the business, you will be providing quality control and assurance on large £multi-million developments on behalf of the company's client. The role will involve undertaking inspections of building works in progress in new build residential sites, liaising with Building Contractors and preparing reports for Employer's Agents and Project Management. Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Remain up to date with building regulations and compliance
  • Verifying compliance with contractual drawings, warranty standards and employer's requirements
  • Strong observation to be able to identify discrepancies and raise these appropriately
  • Prepare written reports with supporting photographs to a high standard and submit in a timely way
  • Organise snagging and end of defect inspections with the client
  • Maintain strong client relationships throughout

The rewards

You will be provided with an annual salary above the suggested average market rate, bench-marked currently at £45-48K with a car allowance of £5,000 in addition.

The business provides a fuel allowance of 45p per mile for any business mileage.

As your role will be largely remote working, you will provided with a mobile phone and a laptop to carry out your work with.

As well as the aforementioned remote working, which includes both working from home and from site, you will benefit from 25 days of annual leave plus the 8 annual bank holidays you would expect.

The business offers an 8% pension with 3% employer and 5% employee contribution. You will be auto-enrolled on this but have the option to opt out if preferable.

The requirements

To be successful in your application for this role you will need to be currently working as or have worked in your last role as either a Clerk of Works or a Building Inspector, for either a consultancy, a local authority, housing association or regulatory body for House Builders.

You will need to be based in London or the surrounding areas and be commutable to West London as a significant proportion of your work will be based there.

You will ideally be a full member of the ICWCI or working towards qualification in that area.

You will need to be both a driver with a full valid driver's license and also have access to a vehicle as this will be crucial in order to get to site.
