The Government Property Agency is changing the way the Civil Service works and is at the forefront of Government's transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The Agency is central to the delivery of key Government policies including moving 22,000 Civil Service roles out of London by 2030, contributing to the Net Zero agenda, and supporting Civil Service Reform by delivering working environments that support departments to adopt hybrid working.  To do this we are delivering a major change programmes across the United Kingdom and consolidating our portfolio to save £1.4 Bn over 10 years. This is no small task, and to help us to be successful we need exceptional people.

With a responsibility for delivering the Government’s Estates Strategy we increasingly manage the Government’s property assets including delivering major programmes to construct and refurbish buildings supporting smarter working practices to improve productivity and well-being.  Our vision is clear – to deliver a transformed, shared, sustainable and value for money estate.

With extensive experience in leading complex and large-scale new build and refurbishment commercial office projects, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction for the Capital Projects team of 150 integrated GPA and strategic partner design and project management staff, and managing programmes of both new build and remodelling projects from conception to occupation.
This will include responsibility for overseeing the development of compelling programme and project business cases and full P&L responsibility for the portfolio of all GPA capital projects. You will also oversee standard setting for engineering design and look & feel to deliver high quality, sustainable and inclusive workplaces, the evaluation, appointment and management of developers, construction and fit out contractors to meet time, cost and quality targets, and to achieve excellent post occupation evaluation feedback.
Following work to reset our organisational blueprint for the future, GPA is now looking for several senior posts to enable it to build its capability and capacity to deliver its ambitious programme.  As a key member of the senior team, we will look to you to apply your considerable knowledge and experience and personal abilities to a maturing operation, with few other precedents.

This is an unrivalled, but demanding, opportunity that will require you to be highly agile, capable of working with autonomy and comfortable delivering tangible outcomes in an environment that can be ambiguous. An ability to build productive relationships with a wide variety of senior stakeholders is a must.
These are exciting times for the organisation, and this opportunity provides a great chance to make a positive impact and contribution.  Please contact Anna Scaife on 0113 416 6772, Julie Myers on 07595 779915 or Michael Dobson on 07891 142325, at our recruitment partners Gatenby Sanderson for an informal discussion.
