Board Member

We are recruiting for two new Board members to join us during this exciting chapter in our story.

As our business grows and our ambitious nature pushes us to achieve bigger and better things, we have recognised that we would benefit from additional expertise in the areas of health and social care, and construction and development.

Joining our Board as a Non-Executive Director is a rewarding and interesting position. Our Board is instrumental in upholding our commitment to governance and ensuring we comply with our legal obligations across the whole business.  It has the authority to ensure that we fulfil our mission and promote our purpose in a style and way that advocates our values.

When you join our Board, you become part of our team. You will receive a comprehensive induction to help you gain a wider understanding of our business and your role on the Board, and you’ll receive regular training and development opportunities throughout your time with us. Our colleagues and our current Board members are always happy to answer questions and offer support.

As a Board Member your role will include:

Within the governance framework set out in Linc’s rules and policies, the duties and functions of the Board are to:

  • Exercise rigorous stewardship of Linc finances, securing the effective and efficient management of our financial position
  • Observe high standards of openness and seek to maximise transparency and accountability
  • Bring an external perspective to bear on Linc and contribute to the development of effective strategy and organisational change.
  • Provide an independent, objective viewpoint to test and constructively challenge management
  • Play a key role in ensuring that Linc maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, particularly with respect to financial reporting, regulatory returns and inspections, internal control and risk management

As a Board member you will be expected to commit around 10 days per year. The remuneration for this post is £5000 per annum.

Essential skills and experience

You must be able to show a commitment to Linc’s purpose in a way that supports our values; passionate, ambitious, and respectful, as well as being able to demonstrate you meet the following criteria:

  • Experience working at senior management level of public or commercial life in the UK and/or internationally
  • A proven ability to think through complex issues strategically, independently, and imaginatively
  • Experience exercising excellent financial stewardship and securing value for money
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to represent organisations internally and externally

Health and social care

In addition to the essential criteria, we are looking for a Non-Executive Director that has a background in all or some of the following areas:

  • Health or social care policy and agenda
  • Service delivery in health or social care 
  • Political awareness, particularly an understanding of the Future Generations Wales Act
  • Commissioning, providing or regulating care services
  • Designing services in a care environment
  • Liaising and working with Health Boards
  • Care governance

Development

In addition to the essential criteria, we are looking for a Non-Executive Director that has a background in all or some of the following areas:

  • Development and growth strategies
  • Development viabilities
  • Social housing design standards
  • Construction contract management
  • Residential market sales
  • Zero carbon principles in construction
  • Dispute resolution
