Great opportunity for a Building Surveyor with a range experience in project and professional work to take up an integral role with opportunity for progression.

We are a multi-disciplinary firm of Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers and Building Surveyors. The company was established in 1990 and are known for our industry expertise and client care.

Our Client base ranges across varying sectors including; public sector, residential, commercial, and education, and our project sites takes us into Central London and into the Home Counties.

We are now recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our team.

 

Person Specification:  BUILDING SURVEYOR

Relevant Education & Experience:

Essential

Be educated to degree level from a university recognised by the RICS. To have completed BSc Building Surveying (or an equivalent degree).

Have 3+ years relevant working experience.

Hold a valid driving license and have access to a car and be willing to use it for site visits subject to the payment of expenses.

Display knowledge and appreciation of building construction and be able to draw detailed clear and tidy hand sketches for the purposes of identifying current and proposed construction.

Have a working knowledge of building defects, what can cause them and what measures should be taken to repair such damages (in-house assistance is also provided).

Show evidence of effective and clear report writing skills and the confidence to make recommendations for further action such as any necessary further investigations and/or scope of repairs and remediation.

Demonstrable experience in producing specifications in adherence with current guidelines.

Be able to produce clear annotated drawings on AutoCAD.

Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook etc.

Desirable

Applicant will be a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIoB)

Applicant will be chartered or nearing chartered status. In the case of an applicant who is near-chartered status level they must be sufficient for entry to full Chartered status.

Responsibilities and Duties:

You will be capable of working with minimum supervision in all areas of Building Surveying including but not limited to, in respect of:

Professional Work

  • Defects Analysis of existing buildings and associated report writing
  • Party Wall matters (not essential)
  • Dilapidations
  • Building surveys, planning preventative, maintenance schedules, commercial and due diligence reports

Contract and Project Work

  • Contract Administrations/Employers Agent roles
  • Specification writing for minor works and a full scope of maintenance or refurbishment works
  • Site supervision
  • Monitoring construction works in respect of quality and progress and reporting to clients
  • Manage projects from inception to completion, analyse costs, agree Final Accounts, and issue Valuations and Practical Completion Certificates.

These duties and responsibilities are indicative and not exhaustive; therefore we expect you to adopt a flexible approach to your role.

Personal Attributes & Qualities:

Be organised and able to communicate with clear legible handwriting and have a good command of English.

Be self-motivated and have sufficient health and fitness such that the candidate can perform their duties when making site visits outside the office, e.g., be able to climb ladders and work at height.

Be able to handle potentially large number of projects.

Be confident when dealing with outside parties e.g clients, contractors, statutory bodies and members of the public.

Salary & Benefits:

We are offering up to £40,000 per annum dependent upon experience. This is for a Full time position (37.5 hours per week).
