Intermediate Building Surveyor

The role

The Managing Director of a boutique North London consultancy is looking for an intermediate building surveyor to join their team with the intention of providing an increased service to their well established client base as well as delivering quality work to their ever growing list of new customers.

You will be joining a small, experienced team, with the MD still one of several practising surveyors, and Business Development Manager and support staff providing operational guidance. You will be delivery focused, with no requirement to develop business, although being an independent operator, there is a lot of flexibility to take on new responsibilities and focuses.

You will largely be working with lenders and mortgage advisors, as well as property management companies and Landlords, taking on instructions such as full building surveys, specific defect analysis, schedules of conditions, party wall matters and more, predominantly focusing on residential property. You will be involved in creating AutoCAD plans, produce schedules of work and specifications, and act as contract administrator to appoint relevant contractors for necessary work.

The role of building surveyor within this organisation comes with plenty of perks. As you would expect, you will receive an annual salary, which is benchmarked at a maximum of £45K per annum, although this is negotiable within reason.

You will also receive 25 days of annual leave plus public holidays, and be enrolled on a work place pension of 8% (3% employer and 5% employee contribution).

There is an excellent personal bonus based on fees generated, business mileage paid for at 45p per mile and RICS subscriptions will be covered by your employer.

The requirements

To be successful in your application to the role of Intermediate Building Surveyor at this business, you will need to have prior experience working as a building surveyor, and hold an RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying.

You will need to be comfortable working independently to carry out structural surveys, produce full working specifications and provide contract administration on projects up to £250k.

The role is client facing and requires a professionally presented, articulate, and well organised individual to manage clients expectations and timeframes, communicating clearly from initial meeting to completed work.
