Assistant Building Surveyor – Bolton Abbey
Following the growth of the Estate annual repair and capital expenditure programme, coupled with the adoption by the Building Department of compliance and contractor management for the Devonshire Hotels & Restaurants Group, an exciting new role of Assistant Building Surveyor has been created to support the Estate Building Surveyor in the delivery of their role You will be based on the Bolton Abbey Estate, (the Yorkshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire) situated within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The Role
The Estate’s Building Surveyor is responsible for managing repairs, maintenance, compliance and capital projects as well as delivering development opportunities across the Estate’s property portfolio and businesses, while managing the Department’s annual expenditure. A high number of Bolton Abbey’s buildings are heritage assets, requiring considered and sensitive management. One Assistant Surveyor currently supports the Estate’s Building Surveyor. However, another member of the team is now required.
The Candidate
The successful applicant is likely to have a minimum of five years’ relevant experience. They are also likely to be a positive influence within an established team. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.

First interviews will take place w/c 13th September 2021. A second interview will also be required.
