Your Role

You will be the technical lead for our Geospatial regional team based in Cockermouth as part of our national Geospatial team within the Management & Surveying Business Unit of Tetra Tech UK. This role is primarily focused on the nuclear sector but also includes involvement cross-sector in sectors such as water and defence as well conventional commercial sectors. Leading a combination of Land surveyors and utility surveyors in the region with interface with our GIS consultancy team also. The role provides a wide variety of technical challenges and opportunities due to the novel and bespoke requirements of the nuclear industry. Client relationships and business development will also be a key facet of the role, providing technical leadership and consultancy to our clients through existing and newly formed frameworks.

It will be your role to ensure that all projects are delivered to the relevant standards, cost and time, while overseeing the delivery of non-strategic projects under guidance where required. You will be supporting the delivery of major projects or a range of smaller ones requiring specialist input, and providing the day-to-day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment and problem-solving.

You will be reporting on project progress, risks and issues and ensuring that these are highlighted and followed throughout project delivery. You will also be contributing to the delivery of innovative solutions for clients and ensuring that costs are managed and controlled to ensure the achievement of project profitability. You will be expected to proactively identify business development opportunities with existing and new clients and escalate for action. You will also be supporting the professional development and coaching of the team, plus ensuring that all project activities are managed in line with group policy and procedures. Lastly you will be aiding the development of other team members.

About You

You must have a relevant Technical qualification for this role. It is a fundamental aspect that you have good knowledge of relevant software used, AutoCAD, Excel, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone and other survey related software.

There are specific technical skills requirements that you will need in this role, which includes Extensive experience in the use of Total Station and GNSS equipment for topographical surveys, setting-out and the establishment of high order control networks. Experience of Laser Scanning and the processing and interpretation of data captured, levelling or precise levelling, Internal building and elevation surveys and experience of digital terrain modelling and design work.

It is desirable for you to be a chartered member of appropriate professional body.

It is essential you have suitability for security clearance and have a full UK driving licence.

Due to the frequent on-site work the person must be able to demonstrate the technical competence, self-reliance and motivation necessary when dealing with clients and public, or in resolving problems that arise.
