Housing Surveyor, Derby, 18 month contract, Energy Upgrades


Your new company
A Local Authority in Derby are looking to appoint Housing Surveyor on an interim contract within their Strategic Housing Team. After being awarded a £5M Central Government grant for residential Energy Upgrades, they are offering an 18 month contract to support with Eligibility Surveys, Budget Allocation,Tenant and Contractor liaison and managing the works. Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Your new role
The purpose of the role is to secure through advice and financial assistance, improvements, repairs and adaptations in private sector housing in all areas of the Local Authority, in accordance with the Council's Housing Renewal Policy. To assist in the delivery of council procured construction projects ensuring site operations and construction works comply with contract specifications, City Council requirements and current legislation.

- Survey properties for a variety of different purposes but in particular for energy efficiency works and Disabled Facilities Grants and produce accurate survey notes and records.
-Draw up schedules of work, bills, specifications, drawings and/or plans as required, to meet the purposes and standards of the relevant scheme.
- Assess estimates, plans, drawings and specifications submitted to the Council for housing renewal assistance/grant purposes, or as proposals to meet relevant housing standards.
- Survey properties to assess eligibility for assistance and calculate assistance entitlement. Assess feasibility of adaptation works and determine eligibility for alternative housing options including Relocation Assistance.
- Evaluate the standard of work and performance of contractors. Assist, instruct and advise contractors on site, on matters related to quality control and the interpretation of contracts documents.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have extensive experience within Housing and Surveying, will be adept in Energy Efficiency works and will be confident with Tenant/Contractor liaison. Upgrades will include, Internal & external insulation, Heat Pumps and Solar Panels. You should have strong knowledge of construction fundamentals and a range of experience working on different types of Homes.
