Recently Chartered Building Surveyor

The Burghley Estate is a diverse rural business in Stamford, Lincolnshire.  The Estate extends to 12,000 acres, with a significant residential and commercial property portfolio.  At the heart of the Estate is Burghley House, a Grade 1 listed mansion house set within 1,500 acres of historic parkland.

The Estate is seeking a recently qualified Building Surveyor to assist the Head of Building Services in all aspects of managing property and estate maintenance, including all commercial and residential properties, new capital development projects and Burghley House itself and its surrounding heritage buildings.

The role will be very varied and offer a raft of challenges and experience. Example day to day responsibilities will include

  • Carrying out inspections including:- initial feasibility studies, measured surveys, pre-acquisition and pre-lease surveys, building condition, dilapidations and building pathology reporting, collection and collation of services information and plans, pre paint repair surveys, fabric failures surveys, quality checks
  • Formulating the information for Listed building consent and planning applications
  • Preparing drawings and specifications including floor plans, site plans, service plans and more
  • Producing programmes of work
  • Consulting with all stakeholders
  • Ensuring that all works are carried out to the defined specific standards, building codes, guidelines and regulations
  • Assisting Head of Building Services with supervising the Estate Maintenance team as appropriate

 Key skills required

  • APC qualified
  • Excellent drawing skills and familiarity with CAD design software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • A passion for working on a varied property portfolio including heritage properties
  • Strong imagination and ability to think and create in three dimensions
  • Possess a commitment to delivering high quality service in an organised and timely fashion
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently
  • Full driving licence with the ability to travel independently
