Hays are currently working with a client-side organisation working in the education sector to assist them in recruiting a Senior Project Manager for either Glasgow or Edinburgh. This role will be reporting to the Head of Estates & Facilities and is a key role within the Estates Team.
Your new role
You'll lead on the management and delivery of key office fit-out and property construction related projects including planned and reactive maintenance and capital works projects. You'll be responsible for all project management activity including project planning, project governance, managing project interdependencies affecting the project, internal and external stakeholder engagement, project reporting, project benefits realisation, project resources and budget. Supporting the operation of project teams, you'll also develop and maintain influential relationships with internal departments and external partners required for the successful delivery of the Programme and to support project delivery.
In conjunction with the Head of Estates and Facilities, the Project Manager will work with directorates and teams across the company and engage with project teams that have been established to support delivery of projects. This is a full-time permanent role where base location can be flexible. Under current Covid restrictions, the successful applicant is expected to work from home. Due to the nature of the role and the travel involved, a driving license would be preferred.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential to the role is Project Management experience within a construction environment including the co-ordination of multi-disciplinary design teams, and obtainment of a recognised construction project management qualification PMP/ RIBA Certificate in Project Management or equivalent relevant project management experience..
Knowledge of Project Management methods including PRINCE 2, APMP, PMP or equivalent PM methodologies is required, with a working knowledge of Autocad or other CAD applications being advantageous. You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, and represent projects at relevant meetings, including relationships with 3rd parties so you'll need excellent communication and presentation skills and have the ability to build strong relationships at all levels along with strong interpersonal and influencing skills to ensure the most effective and efficient delivery of the project.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate skills, experience and knowledge which are important to the role, including but not limited to: Management of contracts in a fast paced environment; planning and managing property related projects; liaising with and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; Liaising with property landlords and agents. You'll have knowledge of relevant legislation and building regulations policies and how to apply them as well as having experience of working in cross functional and multi-disciplinary teams. You'll also demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, be commercially focused with a proven ability to drive projects forward to completion.
What you'll get in return
The salary will be between £40,000 - £47,000 depending on your experience. The company also have an exceptional annual leave allowance of 30 days + 13 public holidays. Along with this, the pension contribution is up to 22.5% from the employer. You will also have the option to use the Flexi-time scheme - carry over up to 14 hours credit or 7 hour deficit in a 4-week period. Up to 10 days off per year.
