Harlow Council owns and manages around 400 non-housing property assets including operational Council premises, leased property to commercial and community tenants as well as an infrastructure network serving the town’s residents. As part of our commitment to improving the services and facilities we deliver, we value good management and maintenance of our stock and infrastructure, investing in it through ingoing capital works. The post provides an opportunity for the right person to join a professional and dynamic team and contribute to the Council’s work in this area.
Harlow Council is looking to appoint a Property Maintenance Officer to provide technical support to the Properties & Facilities Team ensuring that non-housing responsive and planned maintenance and improvement works are carried out efficiently and effectively. The role will include organising and managing day to day maintenance and repair works, procuring and managing major capital improvement projects from inception to completion, property inspections, production of technical reports, and insurance compliance and repair works.
We are looking for someone who is adaptable, has a flexible approach to work, and is qualified to a minimum GCSE standard (Maths and English or equivalent) with HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent desirable. Candidates will require experience of building surveying and/or inspection and assessment works and thrive working as a member of a busy and supportive team. You will be happy to work within a variety of environments and in all weathers and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and in different situations.
