My client is a leading multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy. They provide a range of consultancy services that include building & quantity surveying, project management, architecture & master planning, civil & structural engineering, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, and health & safety.
As Assistant Building Surveyor, you will part of a large surveying team working on various social housing framework contracts, managing new build, refurbishment and maintenance projects across SE postcodes, alternatively you will be working on education projects, assisting a newly formed team with the current workload. The projects they've won alone in the lockdown period, will see them through to mid 2022 without taking in to account the projects they had before, putting them in a strong position if another lockdown was to occur.
You will be working in a team of 12, where you will report into a Senior Surveyor. There is a mix of WFH and working in the office which is currently led by the employee, the Partner managing the division has no desire to change that. That doesn't hinder you progress with an APC or general workload, they are now fully operational in terms of managing staff from home and more so able to assist junior members of staff and are able to support someone with their APC - hence why they are looking to recruit now at this level.
Your new role
In the role of Assistant Building Surveyor you will be tasked and measured in the following; assisting in preparing tender documentation comprising schedule of work, managing contracts and controlling expenditure within budget and time, undertake Building and Condition Surveys, carry out inspections of construction work, write specifications of work, carry out the duties of Contract Administrator, carry out the role of Surveyor under the Party Wall etc Act 1996 and undertake, where applicable Employers Agent duties.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have the following; H&S legislation and CDM Regulations, experience in Management of Small to Medium sized projects, identifying building defects and preparing specifications, working knowledge of IT systems and software such as MS Project, Office, & AutoCAD and knowledge of the JCT forms of Contract. You should be looking to start or be at the beginning of the APC process, which will be fully supported.
What you'll get in return
As part of the package for this role, you can expect a salary of up to £35k along with a 25 days holiday + bank holidays which goes up to 30 after time served, reimbursement for APC and professional examination costs, professional fees paid for, pension options and life assurance.
