The role

You will be joining an independent building consultancy with 30 years of history, predominantly serving private sector clients across London and the Southern Home Counties including pub operators, residential developers and landlords, Block Management Companies, retailers and prestigious London Estates to name just a few.

RICS accredited, Certified Historic Building Professionals, Corporate Members of the Association of Project Safety and more, this dedicated group of experienced and highly qualified group of professionals are known for their levels of quality and service throughout all instructions.

You will be joining the team as a Senior Building Surveyor, reporting into the Associate Director of Building Surveying to begin with, as well as providing management support to junior surveyors in the team.

Your main areas of work will involve the following instructions across refurbishments, repairs, maintenance and fit-out projects to high end residential, commercial units and heritage / historic buildings:

  • Contract administration
  • Planned maintenance surveys
  • Schedules of condition and dilapidations,
  • Development monitoring,
  • Party wall matters,
  • Defects analysis,
  • Landlord's representative in relation to tenants fit-out and alteration works.

Depending on your experience in the above areas you may initially be focused on one or two areas and introduced to less familiar instructions as you become more involved.

The rewards

As a senior building surveyor you will be offered a salary of £45-55K per annum (45K for non RICS, £55K for experienced Senior MRICS candidates) as well as benefits including a car allowance, healthcare and discretionary bonus.

You will have your professional RICS subscription paid for and you will be provided with regular CPD opportunities to ensure your sustained development as a building surveyor.

The business offer 28 days of annual leave, and a workplace pension with 3% employer and 5% employee contribution.

In addition you will be given every opportunity to progress within the business, and become a lead on certain specialisms or account manager with specific clients.

The requirements

In order to succeed in your application you will need to be a building surveyor holding an RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying or a comparable subject.

you will either currently work as, or be ready to step into a Senior Building Surveyor role, and preferably be a full Member of the RICS or be working through your APC.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years + building surveying experience in a private sector practice and have some exposure to managing / mentoring junior colleagues.

You will be a competent AutoCAD user, extremely knowledgeable of contract administration (traditional JCT suite) and have solid building pathology knowledge, with the ability to confidently diagnose defects, identify material components and advise on suitable remedies.

You will also need to hold a full, valid UK driver's license and have access to a vehicle at short notice as driving to site is a requirement.
