Based in Central London, and working within a dedicated, specialist building consultancy team, you will work collaboratively across a range of public and private sector clients, from local authorities and central government organisations, to private global brands, investors and lenders, providing building consultancy services to built asset portfolios.

This role is excellent for someone looking to increase their range of property experience, as the instructions and tasks you will undertake will be extremely varied. As a key client facing member of the team, you will be delivery focused (with a view to further developing business streams) completing the following work and more:

  • Building Surveys, specific defect analysis, condition reports & PPM programmes
  • Schedules of Dilapidations
  • Contract Administration (Traditional JCT suite) and project management

The building consultancy team has a strong client base, with secure frameworks in place for large public sector clients across local government and blue light sector clients, as well as exclusive agreements with private sector organisations.

The rewards

Working as a chartered building surveyor for this organisation will be extremely rewarding, both from a financial standpoint and in terms of professional / career development.

The company is offering a salary of £50-60K per annum which will depend on experience, suitability, and level of seniority. This will also be reviewed biannually, so the opportunity to increase this is possible twice a year.

In addition to this the business will cover your annual RICS subscription fees as well as the cost of CPD courses, as investing in your development and career is a huge priority.

You will also be provided with a £400 sum to go towards your physical health, to be invested in gym membership, or membership to a sporting club or other health focused membership.

This is a growing team with strong backing from the largely company, offering excellent progression and growth opportunities in a highly regarded and team of property professionals with real synergy, where you can build your own client base and make of the role what you can.

The requirements

In order to be successful in your application for the role of Senior Building Surveyor, you will need to be a qualified building surveyor and member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

You will need a strong technical background, familiar with commercial building pathology and with prior experience in completing schedules of dilapidations and negotiating claims. This will actually be around 30% of your workload so strengths in this area are essential.

You will be comfortable leading projects, awarding contracts and managing the expectations of stakeholders.

This role requires a strong client facing individual, so confidence and experience leading presentations, chairing progress meetings, as well as explaining and articulating your work will be key to perform successfully.

Strong written and verbal skills will be required for this role, and great attention to detail across correspondence, reports, and within technical survey work will be required.

A valid UK driving licence is deemed desirable but not essential, and access to a vehicle is also a plus.
