Hours: Full Time

Closing date: 17th October 2021

We’re looking for an experienced manager to lead a building control team that plays a key role in making sure that Leicester is a healthy and safe environment for everyone in the city.

On top of a competitive salary, you’ll be enrolled to our generous pension scheme which we’ll contribute up to £11,102 per year. In addition, you’ll receive a substantial holiday entitlement, ability to work remotely and paid business mileage.

The post  full time, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday on a permanent contract.

We’ll be holding interviews on 8th/9th November 2021.

Your role

Leading, developing and motivating a skilled team, you’ll lead a variety of projects, from assessing building works to monitoring dangerous structures and demolitions. This means you’ll be involved in proactive site visits and enforcing building works regulations, as well as liaising with and advising the fire service on compliance with fire regulations. So, you’ll make sure projects are implementing sustainable development and environmental improvement policies, including saving fuel and power.

What you'll need

A natural leader, you’ll have proven experience of building control management and thorough knowledge of building regulations, particularly in relation to fire safety. With the ability to adapt to different challenges, assess priorities and meet deadlines in a highly pressurised environment, you’ll be open to new ideas. Naturally, you’ll be an articulate communicator, used to dealing with external parties and conveying complex information clearly and tactfully to people at all levels.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including childcare vouchers, discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate.
