A Principal Estate Surveyor within the DIO Estates Division will be involved in exciting and interesting programme management and delivery of infrastructure that underpins the UK Ministry of Defence Mission across its global portfolio. On this unique Estate no two days will be the same.

A Principal Estate Surveyor will hold excellent communication skills to provide services, professional advice and “consultancy” to internal and external departments, customers and partners and will collaborate with them in ensuring that they are able to adhere to all agreed processes and operating procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the established Land Management Services (LMS) Team and a wider network of highly skilled Surveyors, Planners, Valuers and other property specialists within DIO's Estates Division, who deliver specialist Estates advice to a variety of UK Military customers.

Job Description

As Principal Estate Surveyor Overseas Accommodation the successful candidate will support the Deputy Head Estates (Specialist Teams) in the development and leadership of the LMS Overseas Accommodation team (both UK-based and forward-deployed) and will be responsible for delivering agreed programmes for provision of predominantly Leasehold residential accommodation to, and in support of, UK Service Personnel and their families across Europe, Turkey and in the USA (the latter in an advisory function to the British Embassy Estates Team in Washington DC). Additionally, the Principal Estate Surveyor Overseas Accommodation will be responsible for pan-LMS Overseas Special Projects and Assurance.

The successful candidate will also have a dual role as one of the Assistant Heads of Estates, providing an additional opportunity to be part of the wider Estates Division management team in shaping and developing the future direction for Estates Division.

The role will involve direct line management of 5 x Senior Estate Surveyors who are based in UK, Belgium, Germany, Italy and USA. The successful applicant will provide direction and leadership to their team, delivering LMS business objectives with minimal direction and supervision. We are therefore seeking a highly motivated individual, who is an experienced and passionate team leader who achieves results.

Engagement with other government departments and agencies and Host Nation authorities may also be required.
