We are seeking a motivated and suitably qualified Property Professional to join and lead an established team within our Estates network. You will be responsible for executing a variety of interesting estate surveying programmes, services and professional advice across all customers, including to senior officers on the management of the MOD Remove Overseas and Training Estate establishments.  This job is ideally suited to a Chartered Surveyor with a varied skillset and background in rural, residential or commercial surveying who is looking for an exciting and unique challenge. 

Job Description

The DIO Senior Estate Surveyor for Remote Overseas and Training Estate will be UK based but with responsibility for providing all DIO Land Management outputs in Kenya, Belize and Canada whilst coordinating and managing the activities of the Estate Surveyor responsible for the South Atlantic (Falkland Islands) and Asia (Nepal and Brunei). Occasional travel to these locations is to be expected!  

Duties will include the acquisition and lease management of Service Family accommodation for the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) where there are currently c.23 leases relating to over 100 properties based in Nairobi and Nanyuki rented in the open market from local Landlords, together with the procurement of licences to conduct military training exercises on private land extending to in excess 500,000ac within Kenya and Belize - plus other unusual land assets as demand dictates, using transferrable skills to apply to and add value within the Defence environment accounting for an overall delivery budget of around £5M per annum.

The role requires the Senior Estate Surveyor to work closely with military and civilian colleagues in country and around the MOD to provide property and land transactory advice and assistance securing the grant, review or surrender of assets, to ensure that all lease data is accurately held and administered within the Information Management System tool and to develop strong relationships with key players who are critical to the provision and operation of the Overseas Training Estate.
