(Permanent full time, although flexible working/part time will also be considered)

Estate Surveyor

Location – Flexible, although formally based at Clinton Devon Estates. Rolle Estate Office, Bicton Arena, East Budleigh, Budleigh Salterton, Devon EX9 7BL.

Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Property and Land team within Clinton Devon Estates – one of the country’s leading rural estates. This role contributes directly to the smooth running of our land and property assets across 10,000 hectares of East and North Devon.  Reporting to the Head of Property and Land, you will work alongside another Estate Surveyor and a Graduate Surveyor.  This role will focus on the management of our commercial properties, and will also involve the management of rural, residential and agricultural elements of the Estate.  You will manage a range of projects, including diversification and development opportunities, which support the delivery of our recently launched and ambitious 2030 Strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Management of mixed-use property assets including rent reviews and lettings
  • Management of commercial property both on and off Estate (including liaison with external agents appointed on behalf of the Estate )
  • Valuation of assets for internal purposes (not red book).  For example, IHT Estate valuations (four yearly), annual property asset valuations for company accounts and CGT returns on sale of property
  • Be part of a high performing team, managing other rural assets, including residential and agricultural  

Person Specification

You will be:

  • Able to work in a clear and logical fashion, with good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident using Property Management systems, databases and technology
  • A confident and enthusiastic communicator, able to present your views either verbally or in writing
  • Ethical with strong integrity

Technical Experience

  • Qualified Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) with at least five years post qualification experience
  • Relevant experience in the property sector with good technical knowledge
  • Trained in the use of the Microsoft suite of applications
  • Driving licence and access to car to be used for business purposes is essential
