Summary

Defra group Property (DgP) is responsible for providing Property Management services to the Defra group across its corporate estate including office, depot and laboratory assets. The Corporate Property Team is responsible for the management and administration of the premises in which the Department accommodates its staff and from which it delivers its services to the public.

Corporate Property is a professionally qualified commercial property team, specializing in corporate real estate, estate management and transactional services. It offers both a transactional and advisory service to the Group organizations using a combination of in-house expertise and external professional advisors. The Team is central to the Group exercising and discharging its obligations as an owner and occupier of property. The team is dispersed with staff currently based in Newcastle, Sunderland, York, Leeds, Nottingham.

The Corporate property portfolio is significant in size and dispersed across England, with only minor property interests in Scotland and Wales. It is predominantly commercial offices, laboratories, warehouses, depots and storage land. The Corporate Property Team provides professional advice to the Defra science portfolio, made up of four main laboratories with a network of smaller regional science facilities.

Job Description

The Senior Corporate Property Surveyor will provide professional property advice, undertake, commission, and oversee transactions and estate management issues to ensure that Defra Group can deliver its services effectively.

Working for the Corporate Property Team you will manage your own portfolio of premises and take responsibility for the administration of the Groups obligations as an owner and occupier of property, working alongside the Group facilities management function.

You will have involvement with and be expected to advise organisations within the Group on the property matters impacting their business area as well as supporting a Group wide estate transformation programme through the delivery a property transactions and disposals.

The role is central to ensure DgP manages its portfolio effectively and efficiently and meets our aims of maximising the business benefits of our property network.
