Contract Administrator

  • Full time

  • Birmingham Business Park, West Midlands

Veolia Water Technologies, the world leader in water treatment. Veolia Water Technologies provide complete solutions for water treatment. Innovating in key areas such as sustainable development, resource and by-product recovery, our differentiating water treatment processes enable us to offer solutions suited to every application. We are experts in water.

As a Contract Administrator, building on your Quantity Surveyor background, you can secure the foundations of commercial delivery and business growth.

This role is an architect for business and financial safeguarding; it oversees the legal aspects of a contract’s journey. You’ll use your intuition and eye for detail to advise, amend, and align project management teams to best practice.

At Veolia, you can be in the thick of varied and interesting construction-related contracts entwined in sectors such as water, food, and beverage, nuclear, and more. This is your chance to represent a world leader in water technology and a progressive force in sustainability and ecological environmental services.

The Day to Day…

  • Overseeing issues and problems emerging from some 30-plus concurrent projects

  • Management of a variety of project types, ranging in value from thousands to hundreds of thousands

  • Preparing and collating budgets and forecasts

  • Client and subcontractor/supplier interaction – to deal with daily contractual issues

  • Referencing contract conditions and recording and evaluating project changes

  • Liaising with procurement department on schedules; reviewing and evaluating tender returns

  • Internal presentations to project teams, managers, and engineers

A collaborative communicator, you need to have the knack for constructive advice and the ability to bring people onside. When you face resistance or stubbornness, that passion for your role’s purpose will drive you to challenge and convince people of the right way to move forward.

  • Do you have existing knowledge and an appreciation for the standard forms of contract?

  • Do you know your NEC from your IChemE?

  • Do you have the confidence and conviction to question, challenge and push back when necessary?

  • Do you have a Quantity Surveyor background, qualified to either HND or degree level?

You don’t need to know every contract type inside out – but you do need to have existing experience and examples to give on when you’ve helped to manage standard forms of contracts, most likely in NEC form, for construction-related projects – in any industry.

Enjoy the best of both worlds: you’ll be based in our Birmingham office two-to-three days per week, but you’ll be travelling to our sites across the UK at other times. You must have a full, clean driving licence.

The Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and flexible benefits package, which varies depending on the role and to fit in with your lifestyle; this includes….

  • Contributory Company Pension Plan with generous life assurance and ill-health provision

  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Sick Pay

  • 25 days of annual leave plus eight bank holidays for full-time employees, as well as buy and sell options

  • Medical insurance for all employees plus the option to add your family

  • Plus, lots more
