Senior Surveyor (Registered Valuer)

Watford, Hertfordshire (initially home-based)

About Watford Borough Council

Watford is an urban borough in South West Hertfordshire; the borough has excellent transport links with mainline rail connections to London. Watford is the centre of a sub-region serving around 500,000 people living within a 20 minute travelling time catchment. As part of the London commuter belt, Watford is strongly influenced by London which brings the benefits of a buoyant economy.

We are now looking for a Senior Surveyor to join our team. The current COVID-19 outbreak means the successful candidate will initially be expected to work from home. Going forward, the role will be office based, although a great deal of flexibility, including some homeworking, will be permitted.

What we offer

- Salary up to £55,000 inclusive of allowances

- 28 days’ holiday - rising to 33 days with five years’ service

- A generous employer contribution pension scheme

- Flexible working

- Professional development

- Season ticket loan

- Cycle-to-work scheme

- Discounted leisure centre membership

- Edenred branded shopping discounts platform

Watford is a small district, but we think big. We have a number of major developments taking place, such as Riverwell and the town centre improvements, and the redevelopment of Watford Junction, Ascot Road and Watford Business Park.

Investments are being made across the borough, meaning that your role will have an interesting and varied range of activities and you will have the chance to make a real difference to the landscape and infrastructure of Watford.

The Role

As a Senior Surveyor, you will support the Head of Corporate Asset Management (CAM) in ensuring the delivery of first-class Property and Estate Management services for the Council’s operational estate. Corporate Asset Management is a key service, responsible for the management of the Council’s property portfolio including operational buildings such as offices and the community buildings estate. You will manage your own caseload of work within our busy team environment, delivering exceptional services across the Council and working with minimal supervision on your own initiative.

About You

To be considered as a Senior Surveyor, you will need:

- To be a qualified Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer

- A minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience, some of which will ideally be within the public sector

- The ability to take on your own caseload

- The ability to work with minimal supervision in a busy team

A basic DBS check will be carried out for this post.

Other organisations may call this role Chartered Building Surveyor, Building Control Surveyor, Surveyor, Chartered Surveyor, Construction Surveyor, or Quantity Surveyor.

The closing date for applications is 6th December 2021.
