Senior Forestry Investment Manager

Due to continued expansion of our business, we currently have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Forestry Investment Manager to join our existing Investment and Business Development team. The position will be based in Perth however the successful candidate will operate throughout the UK.

Along with the very compelling investment drivers for UK forestry, the devolved nations are striving towards achieving net zero carbon by 2045/2050, bolstered by agreements at COP26, resulting in a significant increase in the interest in existing forestry and afforestation. As a result, we are playing a major role in securing new land and forest opportunities throughout the UK for a wide range of clients.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • A relevant academic qualification at degree level or similar
  • Demonstrable organisation and task management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • A high level of IT literacy skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Demonstrable experience with ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters would be preferred
  • As this role will involve frequent travel, a current full driving licence is also essential

To be successful in this role you will have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience within the forest industry or be able to demonstrate the same level of experience. Those with other relevant rural backgrounds may also be considered but must have a demonstrable working knowledge of forestry and the forest industry and current experience in this field.

You must be professional, self-motivated and capable of working on your own as well as within part of our expanding team. You will have clear operational experience in a role at a similar level within the industry, where you have been responsible in forestry investment and business development tasks or for the management of commercial forestry assets including woodland creation, forest/estate management and forest planning.

You should also have previous experience engaging with landowners and providing advice based on your breadth of knowledge and in-depth understanding of the industry especially Forestry Grant Schemes. Ideally, you should have a good working knowledge and understanding of site planning, working with contractors and site safety management.
