Associate Building Surveyor

The role

Joining the Birmingham Building Consultancy division of a global leader in Construction, Property & Engineering, your role will be to lead a team of chartered building surveyors, assistant building surveyors and apprentices covering a client base made up of public and private sector commercial clients, from local authorities, educational institutions, government bodies, private commercial landlords, investors and lenders. You will generate a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider. The role will cover the full spectrum of building surveying services including design and specification, contract administration, project management, building surveys, building pathology, party wall advice and dilapidations.

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

Delivering projects, commissions and professional assignments.Sitting on the regional management group.Winning new clients.Managing client and project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on timeMaintaining effective communication to ensure that all information is available for the successful completion of projects, liaising with other stakeholders to ensure efficient financial control.Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating and corresponding with stakeholders and clients to form strong working relationships.

The requirements

BSc in building surveying or equivalent (MSc or PG Dip etc)Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered SurveyorsA minimum of two years experience at Senior or Associate Building Surveyor level with strong technical delivery experienceAn understanding of internal financial management including forecasting and WIP management Experience of managing a team and dealing with sub-consultantsWell-developed skills in the areas of design, contract administration and professional surveysStrong IT skills (AutoCAD, NBS, MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel)An enthusiasm to lead the delivery of the service in the region.A desire to develop and deliver a wider business development strategy.Experience in analysing delivery performance and the ability to propose new methods of working.Good client-facing and communication skills.Well-organised, enthusiastic and commercially astute.
