Hays are delighted to be working in partnership with East Devon District Council to recruit into an exciting opportunity that has arisen within their Place & Prosperity team. As an Asset Regeneration Project Officer, you will lead on taking forwards positive and catalytic change in the town of Exmouth in East Devon. East Devon District is currently compromised of two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms part of England's first & only World Heritage site designated for its natural environment.
There is a vast and captivating landscape encompassing intimate woodland, boasting an array of scenic walks along the coast. There has never been a better or more pressing time to take forwards a range of place making activities across the region.
Your new role
Exmouth is the largest town in East Devon and with that it has the largest number of East Devon District Council assets ranging from a large redevelopment site, operational assets, car parks, open spaces and commercially let assets. Arguably there has never been a better / more pressing time to take forward opportunities that fit neatly within the theme of Place Making - using these public assets to drive forward positive and catalytic change in Exmouth. This year there has already been a levelling-up bid for Exmouth and also discussions involving the local MP on the opportunities available in the town.
As a Senior Project Officer, you will support your service in delivering investment projects in Exmouth, East Devon. Your role will include the identification of investigative research requirements and information gathering on national policies and best practice, as well as taking a lead on community engagement activities associated with your projects. You will also help to identify external funding opportunity, manage funding applications and also lead on management of discrete project budgets.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this role, you will need to have relevant knowledge of a diverse range of place and prosperity, and local improvement policies and methods. You'll need to demonstrate a good understanding around current planning and development legislation and have an existing good level of local government practice.
What you'll get in return
In return you will receive an initial 18-month fixed term contract - an initial term which may have potential to extend beyond this fixed period dependent on progress achieved across this time frame. You'll receive an excellent competitive salary of between £29,577 and £32,234 per year (dependent on experience and qualifications) and be able to take advantage of a wide range of other employment benefits, including 24 days annual leave, and access to the local government pension scheme.
You'll also be able to take advantage of a hybrid working culture, working from home and from the office / site visits where required throughout your employment.
