We are seeking an enthusiastic Estates Surveyor, ideally RICS accredited or on the route to RICS accreditation, Graduate Real/Estates Surveyor, Experienced Property Agents/Commercial Estate Managers seeking Career Opportunity/Career Change through day release to obtain accredited University degree; who is willing to take on varied and challenging tasks.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is an impressive Council with a renewed strong sense of direction. The Borough is embarking upon an unprecedented level of regeneration which is seeking to deliver real and substantial improvements to the quality of life of its residents.

The Estates Team is an energetic and forward thinking group of professionals tasked with developing its existing Commercial Property Portfolio and maximising the capital and income generation opportunities of Council assets. In order to achieve this, we have decided that more creative approaches in dealing with our assets are required.

Description

The Estates Surveyor will have the following responsibilities:

1. Provide valuation, estates management and surveying advice to all departments and promote the corporate use of the property assets across the Council.

2. Advise on all property issues and manage higher level projects at an appropriate level.

3. Provide supervision and support to projects for the negotiation of the acquisition and disposal of all types of land and property assets and interests.

4. Undertake statutory valuations subject to the sign off and approval by an MRICS and Registered Status Valuer to support the Council's accountancy functions.

5. Provide advice and produce reports for Council representatives and clients acting as the Councils representative. Liaise with other Departments/Sections in all aspects of valuation, estates management and surveying work.

6. Deal with enquiries from all departments on valuation, estate management and surveying work.

7. To provide full support and assistance to the Estates Manager and Principal Estates Surveyors as required including attending meetings. 8. Supervise and contribute to the delivery of a programme of land and premises reviews to support the Council's priorities.

Profile

The Estates Surveyor ideally would have the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory and performance standards and best practice in this area Managing and developing people within a service delivery organisation, including carrying out performance and development reviews and recruitment and selection
  • Delivering customer services in a fast paced and high volume working environment
  • Experience of maintaining, developing and communicating with multiple and varied internal and external stakeholders
  • Practical knowledge of financial procedures e.g. procurement/budget monitoring
  • Experience of reviewing and revising business processes and implementing new ways of working Experience of performance management, quality assurance systems and compiling statistics and reporting information
  • Experience of successfully managing projects from initiation through to completion, including the development and introduction of new initiatives Using a range of computer applications and ICT including

Qualifications

Level 7 qualification e.g. Post Graduate Certificates and Diplomas, or Level 6 qualification e.g. Bachelor Degrees, Graduate Certificates and Diplomas; plus post qualifying experience ]

Or

Evidence of the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience

Job Offer

Interviews for this post are to be held between the 14th and 18th February 2022.

This role will offer up to £34728 + local government pension scheme that has a employer contribution of 20+%.
