Randstad CPE are representing a West London based Construction & Property specialist as they look to expand their team to match their increasing work flow, by recruiting a chartered building surveyor

The business works with a range of clients across the Greater London area, including Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Commercial Landlords, Hospitality clients and more.

The role

Your role as a chartered building surveyor will involve joining a 15 strong team of specialist building surveyors and reporting into a Senior member of the partnership, you will be a key part of the technical surveying arm of the business, collaborating with other specialist teams and supporting junior members of the technical team. You will have a varied client base and a range of responsibilities and carry out survey work which include:

  • Technical Due Diligence surveys
  • Producing Condition Reports and writing Schedules of Condition
  • Carrying out specific defect diagnosis and producing planned maintenance schedules for clients
  • Advising on Party Wall matters and providing neighbourly advice
  • Providing advice to owners and occupiers on maintenance and statutory compliance

Though these will be your key areas of focus, there may be further requirements or other areas of practice you support.

The rewards

Should you be successful with your application, you will be offered a basic annual salary competitive with the market, which is benchmarked between £50,000 and £55,000 at Senior level.

In addition to the basic, this company provides a car allowance of £5,000, private healthcare valued at £2,000 per annum, as well as a travel allowance of £1,000 a year.

Pre-lockdown the business offered 1 day a week from home to all of it's employees following probation, and will look to increase that to two days once normality resumes. The company also accommodates flexible working hours to fit around a busy personal life.

The company provides 25 days of annual leave a year, plus bank and public holidays, for a total of 33 days per annum. They also provide a 4% pension contribution and life assurance, as well as subsidised gym membership.

The requirements

In order to be considered for this role you will need to meet certain criteria, which will act as evidence of you ability to carry out the above responsibilities. These are as follows:

You will need to be either a full member (or fellow) of the RICS, or have completed an RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying, with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience or 4 years minimum practical experience as a building surveyor.

You must have demonstratable experience in building defect diagnosis, dilapidations, technical due diligence surveys and planned maintenance schedules.

You will need to be proficient in AutoCAD and a competent MS Office user.

You will also need a fully valid, clean UK driver's license, and preferably have access to a vehicle.
