The role

A medium sized commercial property management and consultancy business with 50 years in the industry and 15+ offices across the Length and Breadth of the UK, are searching for a commercially minded, well rounded Chartered Building Surveyor with 2 years+ experience at Senior Surveyor level or higher.

Joining their Surrey office (located between Guildford and Woking) as an Associate Building Surveyor, and second in command under their head of office, you will manage client relationships, the junior building consultancy team, and the delivery of individual instructions in response to increasing client requirements and with the immediate aim of establishing a key building surveying hub in the region.

The key elements of your role will be as follows:

  • Business development, building relationships with clients in the region and building on existing workloads.
  • Working with managing agents to cross sell consultancy services to maximise client value
  • Managing client workloads and delegating appropriately to the Surrey Building Surveying team

Along with the above, 50% of your role will involve the delivery of the following range of instructions personally:

    Planned Preventative Maintenance and Building Defects DiagnosisTechnical Due DiligenceReinstatement Cost AssessmentsParty Wall MattersSchedules of Condtion and Schedules of DilapidationPre-acquisitionContract Administration and Project Management

The requirements

the following are essential requirements for this role:

  • Full membership to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS or FRICS)
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience in schedules of dilapidation
  • Strong contract administration skills
  • Full and valid UK driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Within an hour commute of Guildford.
  • Good verbal and written communication, and report writing skills.
  • Great attention to detail
  • Confidence in client facing scenarios and experience presenting proposals
  • Prior experience managing Senior and Junior building surveying team members
  • Motivation to develop new business streams and maximise existing business.
