We are looking for a Development Surveyor at either Senior Director, Director, or Associate Director level to lead JLL's Development team in the Midlands.

About Planning & Development at JLL

Planning & Development is a vital part of the overall JLL offer, providing a bridge between agency and consultancy teams. Their USP is that, unlike many specialist town planning consultancies, JLL provide market facing advice through linking Planning, Development and Agency functions. Directors and their staff in these disciplines work as a team to provide clients with the best advice on the development, management and disposal of property.

The Midlands team are active in both the private and public sector, including major corporates, national and regional housebuilders, investors and financial institutions, universities, land promotors and developers, and Government departments and agencies.

Recent successes include securing planning permission for 3.5 million sq ft of distribution floorspace at Mercia Park for IM Properties and a 1,500 housing allocation at Beeston for DIO.

The Role

This is an incredible opportunity to grow the Development team in the Midlands, based in ideally the Birmingham, or Nottingham office. The role requires the candidate to generate new instructions and to provide support for the existing portfolio of work. You will be expected to: -

  • Forge links with the principal agency teams (e.g. Industrial, Offices, Investment, Retail. Alternatives and Residential).
  • Work with development surveyors in the wider regional network to leverage national client mandates.
  • Identify and exploit new development opportunities.
  • Provide consultancy expertise and advise, including to clients in the public sector.

What this job involves

The job is multi-faceted and covers the full spectrum of Development Agency and Consultancy disciplines. This includes: -

  • Disposal and acquisition of sites.
  • Advice on development options, structures and different routes to market.
  • Development advice, including viability appraisals and financial modelling.
  • Creating and managing multi-discipline teams to advise on complex development led instructions.
  • Acting as the lead client contact on various jobs.
  • Account management and responsibility for a number of instructions.
  • Management and growth of a supporting team of development surveyors.

  • MRICS qualification with around 10 years PQE.
