OPERATIONS DIRECTOR – BRISTOL

As an Operations Director at Faithful+Gould, you'll be valued for your vision and energy. Your role is of strategic importance to the region, requiring close co-operation and collaboration with the other West Region offices (there are 8 in total), our Sector and Service leads and the wider Engineering Services business

You'll be trusted to keep your office moving forward while supported to take your career to the next level.

YOUR PURPOSE

  • Leadership – fully integrate and lead the Bristol office, enthuse our people through effective engagement, develop talent, ensure safety and wellbeing. Provide line management to Business Units/Team Leaders, guiding and mentoring as required.
  • Business strategy – engage in the development of the Bristol Strategy and align it with the regional/national strategy. Prepare annual plans, identify future trends and growth areas within Bristol/South West and support the drive for excellence across the service streams.
  • Win Work – Leading, being visible and engaged in the local market whilst creating a positive sales culture in the teams and deploy people to develop business and win work, optimising sales. Utilise and expand on existing frameworks to develop a strong current and future pipeline.
  • Client Focus – be client facing and manage/provide guidance on all the local key client accounts to support the strategy and business plan.
  • Business operations – manage the office, deliver operational performance, in line with requirements identifying opportunities for delivering on national growth targets (15-20%).
  • People – support and align with the regional ED+I plan, establishing and delivering the local targets. Accelerate opportunities for career development and talent mobility, establishing effective succession plans. 
  • Workload management - establish the requirements for people resources, build a skilled and flexible workforce through permanent, contingent staff and supply chain partners. Identify key strategic resource requirements and recruit accordingly to align with the strategy and business plan.
  • Culture - Create an entrepreneurial and innovative culture, continually develop existing and look for new business areas which align with the business strategy and create competitive advantage. 
  • Project delivery – respond to client requirements with flexibility and at pace, deploy people to deliver work of value to clients, ensure robust management of projects to achieve the outcomes expected by F+G and our clients. 
  • Digital Solutions – support the development of digital tools across the business to achieve technical excellence and consistency of approach to achieve maximum efficiency in service delivery

WHAT YOU CAN BRING

  • Experience in an operational management and business leadership role in the same (Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying & Project Controls disciplines) or comparable business area. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Project & Programme Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Project Controls and Multi-Disciplinary service delivery.
  • Be both client and market facing with a visible and active digital profile promoting the business and its staff at every opportunity
  • Strong knowledge, experience and understanding of financial management systems, corporate governance requirements and management of P&L accounts
  • Collaborative, with an effective network spanning client, business partners and other stakeholders.  
  • Able to create a culture of continual improvement and development of services through innovation, technology, and new business models. 
  • Able to build, lead and motivate a team, successful at leading people through change.  
  • Able to engage with all teams and be both visible and approachable to all staff.
  • Performance driven, desire to exceed targets and a proven track record in exceeding business performance expectations.  
  • Strong personal reputation and recognised by our industry for creating value through environmental, economic and/or social outcomes.
  • Available to travel regularly across the South West and West Region and UK as and when required.
