Anyone in the world of Estates knows this is a luxury…
Mainly because it gives you time to finish those home renovations you ‘promised to finish this year’.
Is the Kitchen fully refurbished, or do you still have that one wall that always seems to need painting? The toilet flushes, but the hot water tap still has that annoying drip?
Imagine a world where you can finish these projects…
I bet your Partner, family & even you will be grateful for the holiday days Brunel offer.
How can I get these extra days hear you ask?
Well, become the new Deputy Director of Estates Development (what a title!).
Your day job will be to handle the Capital Works going on at the University, you will oversee a small team of Project Managers handling multi-million-pound projects.
You will be looking at change within the University’s Estates Department through Estates Planning and Capital Development. Stock Condition Works and LTM programmes should be your ‘bread and butter’, along with budgeting and timescale evaluations.
Projects for this role include a mixture of Major and Minor works, focusing on new builds and refurbishments. All are contributing to the 10-year Estates ‘master plan’ & don’t worry, more projects are being added.
You will also be responsible for technical & internal policy matters within Projects, forecasting and feasibility also falls to you, but as it’s already your job, I won’t go on for too long about these…
This is a unique campus, gone are the days where you have to travel miles between sites, now you can walk from the Accommodation Blocks to the gym to the Main University buildings. Here you can really get to know the site and buildings you work on.
You may also be wondering about progression within the role, well, the current Director of Estates used to have this job, so this isn’t just the next step on your career, it could be the one after that too.
Working within a University includes a fantastic benefits package, I’ve already enticed you with the holidays (which by the way is 30 days, plus 3 closure days at Easter & 3 more at Christmas), but you will also get an excellent pension, flexible working opportunities and much more.
