We are currently seeking a personable, enthusiastic, and energetic Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our clients successful team to assist their continuing growth and make the difference to both their business and clients. 

Our client is specifically looking for experience commercial professionals within the Defence Infrastructure sector where you will be joining a team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions. You can expect to work in a busy and motivated team with an established track record of successfully delivering MoD & DIO security cleared projects in Scotland. 

Based out of Edinburgh or Glasgow office operating hybrid working you will be working within our specialist Cost Management team within the Scottish Construction Infrastructure business, to help review and scrutinise actual incurred cost and help drive supply chain improvement and efficiency for a range of major programmes and projects.

The main purpose of the role is to;

  • Collaborate and develop good relationships with clients and stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Leading teams to deliver our clients Defence Portfolio.
  • Responsible for pre and post-contract quantity surveying duties including preparation of cost estimates, procurement and tendering, contract administration, variation, final account, etc.
  • Completing feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
  • Estimating and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Tendering and procuring, including managing the pre-qualification stage, producing the tender list, putting the preliminaries together, tender analysis, producing the tender report and compiling the contractual documents.
  • Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place.
  • Producing monthly post contract cost reports and presenting them to the client.
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.

Qualifications:

Previous experience or a sound and suitable understanding of the following will be a distinct advantage in applying for this role.

  • Understanding of Cost Management and Contract Management such as NEC 3/4.
  • Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
  • Proven experience in a consulting environment providing the full spectrum of CM services including Pre-Contract Estimating; Procurement; Contract Administration, Cost Reporting and Final Account resolution.
  • Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation.
  • Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilise digital measurement, cost planning and tender document tools shall be essential.
  • Experience of project types/sizes within the defence sector in the UK 
  • Able to work under own initiative where appropriate working closely with the Senior Cost Managers and Associates in the delivery of projects.
  • Knowledge of Supply chain management and industry leading best practice.
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing.

  • Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. (SC Clearance)
