Chartered Surveyor MRICS

Pearl Legal Claims are the market leader within the Property Claims sector and specialise in Cavity Wall and Housing Disrepair claims. We are the lead agent for a panel of large law firms who are well respected within their chosen field. Currently we provide over 300 reports a month which is due to increase. Due to organic growth we are looking to speak to MRICS Surveyors who are looking for a new challenge.

Positions can be offered on a full or part time basis either PAYE or contract day rate.

Role:

  • Acting as an expert witness for our panel of law firms
  • Part 35 client support demonstrating claim value, faulty workmanship and/or failure to comply with set regulations during construction and other works
  • Performing building condition surveys and producing Part 35 compliant reports
  • Producing written reports on the viability of a development project (Initial report) and Budgetary control, quality, progress, insurances, contracts and adherence to statutory procedures (Interim Reports)
  • Agreeing and authorising interim valuations for release of funds
  • Attending Q&A sessions set up by our law firms to advise on progress
  • Court attendance where disputes cannot be agreed
  • Costing remedial works

Essential skills

  • Chartered Surveyor qualification to MRICS
  • Practical understanding of construction with a bias towards residential post War builds
  • Experience preparing and agreeing interim valuations and costs associated with remedial works
  • Good practical knowledge of residential construction circa 1900 to 2000 across Stone and Red Brick properties
  • Knowledge of cavity wall construction
  • Car license as you will be required to travel to site

Desirable skills

  • Experience of, or willing to train to be a Part 35 expert witness
  • Previous experience within a similar role
