Directorate for Economic Growth and Regeneration

Property, Investment and Regeneration Service

Service Manager – Asset, Estates, Building and Facilities Management

£47,665 - £51,662 per annum

We are looking for a strong and effective individual to manage this important service area of our Property, Investment and Regeneration Service.  A creative, inspirational and commercially minded leader who is able to translate vision and strategy into reality. You should have a high level of understanding of asset, estates, facilities and building management and experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and working in partnership with a variety of different stakeholders and service users.

The successful candidate is likely to have at least 5 years post qualification experience and will have a recognised qualification in Facilities Management or closely related discipline.

Lancaster is in the county of Lancashire and is at the heart of one of the fastest growing economic regions in the UK. The district is ambitious and is at the forefront of innovation and prosperity. It boasts a rich portfolio of assets stretching out across the stunning coastal landscape of Morecambe Bay, along with views of the Lake District and two areas of outstanding natural beauty. It has unique historic landmarks such as Lancaster Castle, which is still in the possession of the Queen, as the Duke of Lancaster.

Lancaster is one of England’s most vibrant historic cities, where culture and heritage captivate and inspire. The proposed prospect of the Eden Project North in Morecambe only adds to the momentum building in the region. It has world class universities and quality schools within its boundaries, boasts excellent transport links and a growing digital sector. The district is one that looks to the future yet is proud of its heritage.

Given our highly ambitious plans to enhance the economy, the environment, neighbourhoods and the wellbeing of our communities, there’s never been a better or more exciting time to join us in this pivotal role and help deliver our vision for the district, enabling it to thrive as a vibrant regional centre in the north west of England.

The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. This post is based at Palatine Hall.

A Full UK driving license is essential, as the post holder must be able to travel between sites.

Earlier this year, Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will strive towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be required to contribute and work towards reducing carbon emissions within the District.

Would you like to be part of our growing success? If so, for full job description and to apply please visit www.lancaster.gov.uk/jobs and complete the online application form. Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
