Job Details

Ensure the Safety Management System (SMS) is up to date with legislation. Have a proactive approach to managing safety risks, managing procedural review or legislative review/changes in a timely manner.

Client Details

A major transport operator.


Development and implementation of the company's safety management systems, in liaison with key stakeholders, to ensure compliance with legislation, standards and best practice.

Promote and develop SMS and provide support to the business.

Ensure process, policy and procedure is communicated out into the business and relevant documentation is managed.

Manage and chair the standards review group meeting.

Ensure risk is taken into account, and procedures developed to mitigate safety risks to as low as reasonably practicable.

Training and briefing around new legislation or procedural changes is carried out.

Develop skills and qualifications.


Experience managing Occupational Safety. Experience in Transport or Rail desirable, and/or highly regulated environment.
NEBOSH Certificate or Equivalent
Detailed understanding of UK/EU Legislation
Knowledge of standards such as ISO's / OHSAS
Effective communicator at all levels of the organisation; stakeholder management
Highly developed organisational skills and self-starter.
Excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
Knowledge of setting up management systems and document control process

Ability to project manage tasks from start to finish
Excellent team-working, and the ability to contribute towards a positive team dynamic

Job Offer

Salary DOE - up to £50k
