Come and join us as a member of the Flood Risk Management team where hybrid ways of working are positively encouraged. We are a team dedicated to reducing flood risk from surface water, watercourse and groundwater sources of local flooding. Our priorities include supporting delivery of sustainable flood risk development, investigating flood events, consenting / enforcement activities within watercourses and development of local flood risk management schemes. We are very much community focussed and have achieved good working relationships with vulnerable flood risk communities and other flood risk management authorities.

What you will be doing

This position involves responding to major planning consultations as Statutory Planning Consultee for the management of surface water. You will be undertaking the technical analyses of flood risk assessments, submitted in support of new development proposals and making recommendations to planning decision makers. This will involve negotiating and influencing solutions in line with policy, standards and best practice.

About you

The position requires recent experience of evaluating flood risk assessments and the design of surface water drainage systems in support of new development proposals. This requires enthusiasm and drive in working with developers, consultants, partner organisations and stakeholders in order to achieve sustainable development.

We are looking for a self-driven motivated person with a passion for supporting flood risk communities in a sustainable manner. Skills considered essential include:

  • Communication (written and oral). Time management. Ability to assess complex drainage issues. Partnership working. ICT.
