An independently New Zealand owned Quantity Surveyor Consultancy who are a team of highly effective specialists, working in close partnership with their clients across residential, commercial, education, public sector, industrial, infrastructure, and workplace sectors of Construction and Property.

This successful consultancy are proactive in their approach and advice, and are an expert extension of their clients’ business. This is a Quantity Surveyor role, to support the team on a wide range of projects. The team is reliable, passionate, and focused on accurate, high-quality results.

The role:

This role will see you assisting with pre-contract Quantity Surveying including cost planning, value engineering and contract documentation. You will also get experience across the post contract progress valuation and cost negotiation. This is a hands-on role within a busy team, looking to provide a stable platform for long term career opportunities. 

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Pre-contract Quantity surveying including cost planning, value engineering, contract documentation, tender analysis and related reporting
  • Post-contract including contract administration, progress valuation and cost negotiation
  • Support the Project Managers to deliver the project on time and in budget
  • Information management including price enquiries and maintenance and review work as required Leadership and guidance to more junior team
  • Analyse profitability and revenue within the project ensuring the financial goals are met
  • Provide updates and financial results to the Project Manager and Client

About you:

Skills and attributes to include:

  • Relevant industry degree in Quantity Surveying – RICS Chartership would be advantageous
  • Ideally 4 -5yrs+ of construction methodology, building and contract management
  • Demonstrate, or be willing to very quickly adopt, the knowledge of NZS3910:2013 Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction 
  • Technical skills – negotiating, settling, and understand a construction programme Strong computer skills; proficient in Excel and Word Ambitious and self-motivated
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail
  • Integrity in business dealings at all times - the ability to create and maintain trust
  • A positive attitude and proactive problem solver
