About The Role - About this opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Graduate Building Surveyor to join the Building Surveying team, you will assist in all Building Surveying projects and professional services. This is a hybrid role and will be based in Leeds.

With that in mind we will support your APC journey and you will be allocated a Mentor to support you through your studies to become a Chartered professional.

As a Graduate you will:

  • Assist Building Surveyors in the delivery of building surveying & all professional services, including surveys, dilapidation advice, party wall advice, and construction projects for new builds, renovations, and maintenance works - from feasibility through to design, contract administration to handover, post completion reviews and Pre acquisition.
  • Assisting Building Surveyors with the preparation of:
  • Feasibility studies
  • Cost plans
  • Submissions for planning and building regulation approvals
  • Submissions for planning and building regulation approvals
  • Tender documentation and managing the tender process, including designing tender marking schemes.
  • Assisting building surveyors with:
  • Evaluating and reporting on tenders
  • Administration of construction contracts
  • Undertaking surveys including condition surveys, DDA, Fire Risk Assessments, Schedules of Condition and Acquisition Surveys.
  • Preparing reports for customers
  • Undertaking party wall surveyor duties
  • Providing dilapidations advice and delivering dilapidations assessments and negotiating with other parties
  • Undertaking quality monitoring roles of major construction projects.
  • Successfully complete the training in readiness for attaining Chartered status (RICS)
  • Ensuring that all quantitative and financial information has been independently checked before issue, including maintaining evidence of independent checks

  • Building surveying practices and procedures
  • Contract administration procedures
  • Compliance audits and surveys
  • Managing contractor activities pre and post-construction
  • Tendering
  • Party wall matters
  • Dilapidations
  • Design procedures and controls
  • Construction quality and monitoring
  • Clear and effective communication skills - both oral and written
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changes
  • Sound problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills
  • Sound ICT Skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work as part of a team


RICS accredited degree or exemption to sit APC
