A bit about the role...

The Lending Manager is a crucial role in loan funding major infrastructure to unlock and accelerate housing led delivery and regeneration. Within this role the Lending Manager helps structure and execute infrastructure loan funding projects. This is done through working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to develop project leads, assess prospective borrower proposals, shape the negotiations of appropriate loan and security structures and successfully contract transactions.

The post holder will join a team reporting into Richard Mayo, our Head of Infrastructure Finance, who is passionate about supporting the team and wider agency to delivering its objectives to the highest standard whilst maintaining a strong commitment to team wellbeing and work-life balance.

The Lending Manager's day-to-day work will be working on project proposals and collaborating with colleagues on single pipeline activity to ensure the satisfaction of funding eligibility criteria. There may also be the opportunity to lead projects and support with larger and more complex transactions.

The Lending Manager role presents an exciting opportunity within a fast growing, national organisation where you can make a real contribution towards addressing some of England’s largest housing market challenges. You’ll develop strong working relationships with key business partners including master developers, landowners, promoters, housebuilders, and other organisations concerned with large scale housing and regeneration led development to deliver a portfolio of infrastructure schemes across the year by assessing project viability, potential risk and negotiating deal structures.

A bit about you…

As an experienced property professional with experience gained in for example, real estate banking, surveying or accountancy you’ll work alongside varied stakeholders (including valuers, surveyors, solicitors, and other colleagues). This work will include assessing delivery models and funding structures in a property environment by taking into consideration project viability, deliverability, project risk and risk mitigation strategies.

Approaching challenges through a logical and analytical lens, you'll be experienced in analysing and challenging professional property reports, valuation methodologies and practices.

You’ll be able to demonstrate that you can use excellent communication skills with the ability to work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way to solve problems and negotiate related agreements whilst managing your time tight deadlines.

Ideally you will have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience in Surveying, Accountancy, Banking, or a similar relevant professional occupation. It would also be beneficial to have knowledge and experience of working within the UK housing market, regeneration, land & infrastructure investments, or debt financing.

Who are we?

We are the Government’s national housing agency. Our role is to accelerate the pace of house building across the country, particularly in areas where there are the most serious affordability issues – meaning people are struggling to find homes.

We have the appetite, influence, expertise and resources to drive positive market change and meet the Government’s ambition to deliver 300,000 new homes a year. We are using our land, influence, funds and knowledge to increase the pace, scale and quality of new homes accelerating delivery in areas of greatest demand and helping create great places to live. Within the next few years, we will have invested over £27 billion across our programmes. To deliver against these aims we’re building a different kind of public service - join us to help make this happen.

We would encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early should we receive a high number of applications. We also encourage you to apply using the full application option as opposed to quick apply, this is especially important if you would like to indicate to us that you would like to be considered under the disability confident scheme.

Homes England are a geographically diverse community. We are all working from home at the moment and so our new colleagues can be based almost anywhere providing that their commute to their relevant base office is reasonable when we come back together. Colleague wellbeing is our top priority.

Company

Homes England is the new national housing agency, recently launched to play a major role in fixing the housing market and enabling delivery of homes that our country needs.

Homes England brings together land, money, expertise, and planning & compulsory purchase powers, with a clear remit to facilitate delivery of sufficient new homes, where they are most needed, to deliver a sustained improvement in affordability.  We work locally in individual communities to help meet local priorities.

We invest mostly in building new homes, but also in creating employment floor space and other community facilities, in cities, towns and villages across the country. The homes we fund include affordable homes for rent and sale, and homes for rent or sale at market prices. Our investment helps build around half of all new homes built in England each year. It also helps increase local growth by creating jobs and supporting businesses.

We own public land, which we sell to house builders and others. This is one of the ways in which we overcome barriers to development and help increase the speed with which house builders can build new homes.

Homes England is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.

Homes England was launched by the Secretary of State on 11 January 2018. Homes England is the trading name of Homes and Communities Agency. To find out more about what we do please visit: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/homes-England.
