Job description

Currently we are seeking the skills and experience of a Chartered Surveyor to join our Regional or National valuations teams - accountabilities of the teams are wide ranging and can include: ​

  • Commercial property valuations, from advertising rights, residential, leisure, telecommunications, to civic buildings, large offices, industrial and retail
  • Providing accurate valuations of commercial and domestic property on a regional basis
  • Re-valuations of commercial property on a three-yearly cycle
  • Valuations of plant and machinery


As a Chartered Valuation Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for valuations, negotiations, and advising. You'll manage large caseloads, undertake site inspections, oversee the quality assurance process and represent the Valuation Office Agency at tribunal. Throughout the process, you’ll maintain our high standards for quality, delivering to often demanding deadlines.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing your valuation caseload
  • Providing property valuation to support local and national taxations
  • Identifying, escalating and mitigating or managing risks and issues​
  • Appear at Valuation Tribunal, and potentially Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) as required
  • Act as Lead Valuer, giving technical and valuation advice and guidance to other colleagues


We’re looking for someone offering in depth Chartered Surveying knowledge, able to manage a complex workload within specialist teams and working closely with colleagues across the region.

Responsibilities

Person Specification/Essential Criteria:

  • You should be either an experienced surveyor possessing MRICS/FRICS or IRRV (hons) qualified in the valuation or real estate pathways

or

  • We will also consider applicants due to qualify as MRICS in Session 2 2022.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Desirable Criteria:

  • Possess relevant experience gained in an ‘at scale’ commercial or public sector environment
  • Experience of undertaking valuations for non-domestic rating.

  • We will also assess your technical ability where we will look for evidence of relevant expertise, experience and understanding of surveying and valuation based on the Government Property Profession (GPP) Career Framework.

Benefits

We offer a range of flexible working options, a generous leave allowance that starts at 25 days and goes up to 30 days after 5 years’ service and a pension scheme.
