Hays are delighted to be working exclusively in partnership with Spire Property Consultants, a Norwich based, multi-disciplinary consultancy, wholly owned by the Diocese of Norwich to recruit a Managing Director Designate.
Spire was formed over a decade ago and undertakes exciting work on heritage and educational buildings located throughout Norfolk and north Suffolk. Spire delivers a variety of work including the surveying, refurbishment, alteration, repair and adaption of educational buildings, church buildings, parish halls and the management of a portfolio of residential properties.
Spire is at an exciting point in its development, and they want to invest in the continued growth of the company by appointing this key role. They are looking for a dynamic Architect or Surveyor, who will lead, develop, and grow the business, the successful applicant would become their Managing Director within a six-month timescale. Your new role
As the new Managing Director Designate you will be based in their beautiful Norwich office. You will be managing a team of four experienced and friendly fee earning architects and surveyors, responsible for driving the development and growth of the team with existing and new clients. As part of the day to day you will also undertake fee earning work in your area of expertise, on the varied and unique portfolio of work that Spire specialises in!
You will develop and evolve the current Company Business Plan with the Board of Directors, and you will attend Board meetings on a regular basis providing a review of trading, prospects for the future and how the business should develop.
Business Development will be a core part of your role, both with existing and new client contacts, to aid this development, you will build good relationships with company Directors and staff of Spire Property Consultants, Diocesan Secretary (CEO) & Diocesan Senior Leadership Team Directors (Finance, Property and Education), external contractors, suppliers and Clergy and Parochial Church Councils. You will oversee the submission of tender applications that successfully sell the company’s services and practices at competitive prices.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will ideally be a full, or associate, member of the RIBA or RICS, or another recognised construction-related body. You will have experience in managing a team, and you will have an ability to develop strong client relationships.
Considerable experience in design and delivery of new build or conversion works to educational buildings as well as a working knowledge of heritage buildings and building conservation is highly desirable.
Finally, you will recognise the importance of serving the wider community and promoting inclusivity.
