Cushman & Wakefield’s Development and Planning team helps clients to plan and deliver some of the UK’s most high-profile and strategic development projects. Our national team advises on all aspects of the development process from project inception through to delivery on the ground. We are appointed to 32 public sector infrastructure body and LEP frameworks including HCA, Crown Commercial Services, High Speed 2 and Education Funding Agency. We advise our clients on projects which are fundamental to transforming local economic, social and physical landscapes.

Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a RICS-qualified development surveyor to join our growing Midlands-based Development Consultancy & Agency team. We are seeking an experienced and able individual, capable of providing best-in-class advice to both public and private sector clients, including local authority development work, complex brownfield development, town centre development, development agency and town planning.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Creating property strategies for clients on complex single and multiple sites across all use classes
  • Providing support on potential site disposals and acquisitions
  • Negotiating Development Agreements and Joint Ventures between the public and private sectors
  • Providing professional, thorough and accurate advice within set deadlines
  • Consulting internally and externally to help identify optimum solutions for clients
  • Supporting the team to develop its client portfolio
  • Maintaining client relationships and liaising with clients on specific projects
  • Promoting the team’s profile in the market
  • Gathering and acting on client feedback
  • Identifying potential cross-selling opportunities
  • Contributing to departmental billing targets

Successful candidates will ideally have experience in analysing and advising on strategic development issues for a wide range of public and private sector clients where advice also extends across:

  • Acting on behalf of Housebuilders and Developers to acquire land and property on their behalf
  • Disposing of development property on behalf of public and private sector clients
  • Viability analysis and S106 negotiation on complex schemes
  • Advising on significant strategic land opportunities and placemaking schemes
  • Analysis for corporate land owners (with Brownfield/ ‘difficult’/ non-market facing assets)
  • Acting for government bodies, devolved institutions and their executive agencies

Cushman & Wakefield operates a hybrid working policy. The Midlands team is based in the Birmingham office and the expectation is that staff spend the majority of the working week in the office or with clients.
