We are currently looking for an Asbestos Officer to join our successful Statutory Compliance delivery team.

Your next role

You will work within the existing statutory compliance team to manage Asbestos contained within both our Housing and Corporate estates. In line with the control of Asbestos regulations 2012, Health and Safety at work act and HSG 264. 

As the Asbestos Officer, you are required to have the following qualifications and experience:

•    BOHS P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos 
•    BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings 
•    Certified Asbestos Trainer provider 
•    Current driving licence

•    Good working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act
•    A Comprehensive knowledge of legislation pertaining to Asbestos works, in particular the control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 
•    Good all-round knowledge of the types and uses of Asbestos within premises and structures. 
•    Construction or social housing experience
•    Experience of managing Asbestos Surveying Contractors
•    A high level of customer care as well as experience in operative management is essential. 

As part of your duties you will be asked to review the existing service delivery, with the aim to implement new strategies to ensure that Swindon Borough Council assets are maintained to a high standard within available resources. 

You will also be asked to work with both residents, tenants, Councillors and the Health and Safety Executive both face to face and at meetings, reporting findings and delivering presentations in relation to Electrical Safety. 

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
