Job Details

To manage and deliver major Capital Projects from inception to completion. This will involve planning, monitoring and control of all aspects of a project to ensure that the most cost effective, timely and appropriate solutions are developed to achieve delivery in line with the organisations strategic goals.

Our client is a public sector organisation in Barnsley.

Description

The role of the Director of Capital Projects will be to deliver the annual capital works programme across a multi site estate and to manage all aspects of the project lifespan from inception to completion.

Typical tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver major capital projects to agreed scopes and specifications, to time and within budget.

  • Day to day line management responsibility of the capital projects team.

  • Develop capital proposals which align with the organisations strategic priorities, the property strategy and in line with best estates practice in the wider sector.

  • Procurement and the contractor management of all works and services related to capital projects.

  • Adhere to all processes and governance requirements relating to capital projects, including gaining approval for projects, reporting to senior leaders, governing body updates and external funding body requirements.

  • Ensure effective communication of capital projects, including working closely with project sponsors and other key stakeholders involved in the delivery of major capital projects.

  • Ensure relevant planning consents are obtained and conditions managed.

  • Maintain a 'client-centred' approach to the provision of all aspects of project management.

Profile

To be considered for this position applicants will need to demonstrate that they are suitability qualified for the position by way of a degree or professional membership which is relevant to project management such as a degree in Building Surveying and/or RICS/CIOB membership.

Experience of managing the delivery of capital projects within another public sector based role would be highly advantageous.

The role will require a significant site presence within Barnsley so ideally you will live in or around the Barnsley/South Yorkshire region.

Job Offer

A salary of up to £65,000 is on offer as well as a generous civil service pension scheme.
