Job Details

Graduate Environmental Consultant | North Yorkshire

Join a team advising landowners and growers on how to become more environmentally sustainable.

Farm advice has had to evolve to meet its client's needs and this firm has been at the forefront of change.

The Company

A highly respected and expanding firm of rural surveyors and agricultural business consultants, they are an established firm with a modern and forward-thinking outlook.

With multiple offices around the country, they are large enough to take on a diverse range of work while remaining small enough that you will be known to the rest of the team and be treated as an individual.

The Role

Working as a consultant you will join the Environment and Sustainability Department. Advising farms and landowners on future environmental schemes and markets as well and taking a lead on researching and managing new schemes and opportunities.

Your time will be split meeting clients on a face-to-face basis, discussing issues and long-term possibilities, and time back at your home office preparing reports with detailed information and alternative options for the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the delivery of long-term ambitious projects such as ELM Test and Trials, Natural Environmental Investment Readiness fund (NEIRF) projects and other pilots
  • Attending client meetings including consultations with farmers and landowners and running workshops and webinars
  • Work directly with the internal farm business and estate management teams to support our clients through the agricultural transition
  • Advising on additional services provided by the firm on behalf of colleagues

The Ideal Candidate

This is a client-facing role meeting a wide range of businesses and individuals so you will likely enjoy meeting new people with a friendly but professional approach to work with a keen interest in rural affairs.

You will need an eye for detail with many of the DEFRA funded schemes having multiple requirements to juggle.

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field such as; ecology, environmental sciences, rural enterprise, and land management, conservation or forestry
  • General understanding and knowledge of natural capital principles and emerging environmental markets
  • Awareness and understanding of how new markets and opportunities might impact farm businesses, rural estates and other land-based enterprises
  • Mapping/GIS skills are desirable but not essential

How to Apply
